(Worship the Lord Your God)
WTLYG
Genesis 4:3–8,
Some time later, Cain presented an offering to the Lord from the land’s crops while Abel presented his flock’s oldest offspring with their fat. The Lord looked favorably on Abel and his sacrifice but didn’t look favorably on Cain and his sacrifice. Cain became very angry and looked resentful. The Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why do you look so resentful? If you do the right thing, won’t you be accepted? But if you don’t do the right thing, sin will be waiting at the door ready to strike! It will entice you, but you must rule over it.”
This is the first act of worship recorded in human history. Both of the worshippers presented an offering. We Believe that this is the heart of worshipping Our Lord – presenting an offering from our lives. Please note … we are not speaking of money nor possessions (although we know sometimes Our Lord asks those of us also). We are speaking of our most valuable belonging, our time.
Each week, we obediently choose to offer about an hour or more – dedicated to just the activity of meeting Our Lord, God. We show Him ourselves as we are, we become quiet and listen for His Holy Spirit to communicate with us, we use music to lift our hearts and voices in praise and in thanking to God, we listen and watch a teaching about an attribute of Our Lord, God.
We come to be changed, to be made better by God through His Holy Spirit. We call this Sanctification. As we regularly do this, we grow … closer to God and more at Peace in our lives. It’s a wonderfully miraculous thing.
We welcome you to join us as A People of God together – moving closer to Him – growing in Peace and Contentment in all circumstances.
